Description
The Emerging Leader Award recognizes an early-career BLL-SIS member who has made meaningful contributions to the SIS, AALL, and/or the law library profession, and who has a promising future for continuing leadership and service.
Selection Criteria
The nominee must be an active BLL-SIS member in the first 7 years of their career as a law librarian or information professional. Current BLL-SIS Executive Board members and Grants & Awards Committee members are not eligible for nomination. Nominating materials must contain specific examples of current and continuing activities and accomplishments.
Nomination Procedure
Email nomination materials to the BLL-SIS Grants & Awards Committee Chair by March 16, 2026. Any BLL-SIS member may submit a nomination. Self-nominations are encouraged. Materials must include:
- A nomination letter, including a description of the nominee鈥檚 accomplishments and leadership potential. The letter should address the nominee鈥檚:
- Professional accomplishments, including special achievements, initiatives, or innovative activities;
- Service to BLL-SIS and the profession;
- Major current and/or planned projects demonstrating continued growth and leadership potential;
- The nominee’s r茅sum茅 or CV;
- The nominee’s contact information, including full name, position title, employer name and address; and
- The name and contact information of the nominating member.
The BLL-SIS Grants & Awards Committee will review the nominations and select the Award winner(s). Each nomination shall be considered individually and confidentially according to the selection criteria described above. The Award may be presented annually, but there is no requirement that the Award be presented each year. The Award winner(s) will be recognized at the BLL-SIS Business Meeting.
