Congratulations to Rabia Bashir, Recipient of the 2025 FCIL-SIS Schaffer Grant for Foreign Law Librarians
Ms. Rabia Bashir is the Assistant Librarian at the Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department for the Government of Punjab in Lahore, Pakistan. In her position, Rabia manages all aspects of law library operations and management, including archives, gazette organization, cataloging, reference, collection development, and reference query management. She is well versed in conducting complete searching processes of legal information resources for user satisfaction. She serves in a liaison role with law officers to verify the authenticity of legal information.
Rabia has 10 years of experience (8 years in Law Library) working in academic, public and government libraries, and is a graduate of the Institute of Information Management, University of the Punjab, Lahore with a Masters in both Political Science and Library & Information Science . She also holds a Master of Philosophy in International Relations from the University of Central Punjab, Lahore.
ANTICIPATING ³ÉÈËÊÓÆµAND RETURNING TO PAKISTAN
The 2026 Annual Meeting will be Rabia’s first international conference. She is excited to learn more about e-resources, collection development, best practices for legal information management, and making connections with other library professionals. She is eager to share the knowledge and experience she gains with the Pakistani library community upon her return by making presentations and writing newsletter articles about her experience. She is keen to shift the benefit of global learning to initiate innovative and creative designing of law libraries’ services and systems for practical implementation.
